The deadline to register for the 4th annual OSA Futsal Cup is coming up on January 18th. The tournament is open to teams at the U14 (born in 96 or later), U16 (Born in 94 or later) and adult open divisions. There is a maximum of 8 teams per division and each team is guaranteed at least 3 games on hardwood courts.
The cost of registration for a team is $400 and includes matches, gymnasiums, and referee fees.
The mens and womens competition opens up the action over the February 13-14th weekend at Carleton University in Ottawa. The tournament will be a part of the Ottawa Carleton Futsal League's 20th anniversary celebrations, the longest serving futsal league in Canada. Last year's champions, the North Ottawa Geese, will look to become the first mens team to defend their championship when they go up against teams from Toronto, London and Ottawa, among others, in their hometown. They won last year in a 4-3 thriller against the Platense Juniors, now known as Club Deportivo Platense.
The youth competiton starts the following weekend when Toronto hosts the U14's at Hoop Dome in the Downsview Park complex, while the spacious gyms at RIM Park in Waterloo hosts the U16's. The Etobicoke Energy G94 squad will attempt to win their 4th consecutive title in this competition as they take on teams from Vaughn, Ottawa, Richmond Hill and Wexford.
